I will continue to add videos to this playlist as we upload them. It is currently 2:10am. We have gone from the Apple Store to a Panera to a Marsh Grocery and are now sitting in front of a Starbucks uploading videos. It is sprinkling a little bit, so we are trying to stay dry.. and more importantly, keep computer/camera equipment dry.
We’re heading back to the store soon.
BREAKING - We got booted from the mall property. Relocated to Panera on 82nd Street. Photos and Videos being uploaded as we speak.
I’ll be uploading pictures here. It should dynamically load in whenever I update.
We have reached the store and taken our spots in line. Looks like we are 7th and 8th in line. The guys in the front of the line got here around 6:30pm and were the first in line for Leopard, iPhone 1st Gen, and every other product known to man. Can’t compete with that.
Joe has arrived from Hartford safely, and we’re hanging out until it’s time to go to the store.
Here’s the interesting thing…
Joe emails me from the Hartford Airport with an email that says “I’m good, right?” at 10:57am, and included this screenshot:
Then when he lands in Baltimore he sends me this screenshot, 4 1/2 hours later…..

Why the text changes? And why the day before the iPhone launch? And what’s the difference in all this cloudy jargon?? Was he set up for the $599 iPhone, then saw he’s flying 1600 miles and changed his status to avoid a potential ‘Delta Skelter’ ?
AT&T… are you out there?
I am currently trying to decide between the 8gb and the 16gb version. I keep seeing more and more cool apps out there.
Does anyone have an estimate on the size of these small apps? What about games?
On my last phone (8gb), I typically had 4gb of music/videos and that was it. Of course, I got the 8gb instead of the 4gb because of the typical Starbucks scenario…. why get the grande when the venti is only $x.xx more?
Then I think… what about the 8gb, leaving me $100 to buy some cool apps (and still pocket about $75 of it, LOL!)
So what about all of you? 8GB or 16GB? Is the extra 8GB worth the $100?
And furthermore…. White or Black? Is white the ‘chick phone’, as affectionately called by some blogs? Or does it look cool? It would match my Macbook well…
Comment!
Seriously, this is the first and last time I EVER ship something International using USPS. What a sad, sad failure their tracking system is.

That’s the best information you can give me? Wasn’t it picked up at the USPS branch? Was it possibly transferred to a facility? Maybe 2? Don’t you think it might have been put on a plane somewhere (hopefully)?
That is pathetic. Tom, my apologies man. From now on, it’s FedEx/UPS/DHL for this guy. I can’t even believe how pathetic and crippled their system is.
Last night, I had a dream about the new iPhone.
The date was today, Thursday. The day before launch. I walked into a local dollar store to get some paper plates. At the checkout, I look over and notice a box in the corner shelf. Full of iPhones.
I frantically run over to them. You would think in my dream they were all marked $1. Nope, full price. I guess we’ve all come to expect paying in full when it comes to Apple, so it’s a subconscious thing now.
The iPhones are in all of the typical iPod colors… green, pink, blue, black, white, silver, etc. The box is marked ‘Product Testing Phones. Irregular.’ Oh well, good enough for me. I grab a black 8gb and head back to the register. But I get to the register and decide I want something different. I run back to the box. By this time, there are lots of people around the box. I fight my way back in. I find a silver 16gb iPhone.
Then I try to call Joe to see if he wants me to grab him one so we don’t have to camp out. He’s in route from Baltimore to Indy though, so I can’t get ahold of him.
I go home, activate it through iTunes (yeah right, in my dreams, haha). And as I am setting my phone up, I start playing with the ringtones. The ringtone gets louder… and louder… and louder……
Then my wife slaps me in the arm and says “HEY. Shut off your alarm. I’m trying to sleep.”
Ahhhh. 24 hours. Are you excited?
As we approach the 36 hour mark, it’s time to look forward to the weather.

Perfect! Looks like a great night of camping at Keystone is ahead.
Can you top this? Longest Traveled for an iPhone
4 Comments Published July 8th, 2008 in UncategorizedThere might already be spots reserved in internet history for the longest to wait for an iPhone or the first to get an iPhone, but is anyone traveling further to get an iPhone than Joe Gaylor?
That’s right. His tickets are booked. His bags are packed (carry-on only, who needs new clothes when you sleep in front of an iPhone store?). And he’s flying an estimated 1600 miles roundtrip from Hartford, CT to Indianapolis, IN to join me in line at the Keystone Apple store for the 3G iPhone launch.
His political agenda? To turn the White House lawn into an organic garden? To have the biggest carbon footprint out of any iPhone owner? To gain 26DaysWithoutAniPhone.com fame? Or simply to hang out with me? Look for an exclusive interview soon, right here.

If anyone else wants to join us, leave a comment. I am an experienced camper. My wife is just glad she doesn’t have to sleep in a tent in front of Toys-R-Us in sub-freezing temperatures again. But it was totally worth it. We sold a PS3 and a Wii to Wayne Brady (yes, that guy) for $2700 back in 2006. Can you say CASH MONEY? We ended up flipping 2 PS3’s, 4 Wii’s, and 2 TMX Elmo’s that year. It was a grand Christmas.

I can hardly wait. The anticipation is rising.
