This blog will capture everything I miss out on by not having my iPhone. After 10 months with it, I have grown accustomed to the world at my fingertips. This will be a very interesting experience for sure and I will try to count all the situations and events that I would have used my iPhone on a daily basis.

About Brad:

My name is Brad J Ward, and this is my journey. It started on June 11th, when I listed my 1G iPhone on eBay in hopes to sell it and upgrade to the new iPhone. I am a 24 year old, happily married and living in Indianapolis with my wife and my dog Bella. I have worked at Butler University for the past year, serving as the Electronic Communication Coordinator in the Office of Admission. My work is heavily focused in social media / social networking, email, data analysis, strategy and implementation. I oversee the Butler Bloggers and BUForums and is the co-creator of http://www.bloghighed.org/, a site that aggregates many popular higher education blogs and is featured on Alltop.com. My main blog is at http://www.squaredpeg.com, which is work-related.

What this site is and is not:
This is a site to document the times I wish I had my iPhone to do something. This is not a site to make one think that I absolutely must have my iPhone to live. This is a site for an experiment of sorts. This is not a site of wallowing and self-pity. This is a site where I will express my thoughts about life with and without an iPhone. This is not a site where you will convince me that talking about not having an iPhone for 26 days is somehow self-centered or ridiculous. This is a site that will be a testament to the shifting culture of social media and how different are lives are from a year ago, and will be a year from now. Pretty simple. :)

Timeline:

This adventure started when I read about the idea on Josh Clark’s blog. Check out his site and the forums.  I also have Josh to thank for the Mac Mini I got for $54.

I quickly decided to move along with the plan after reading about it. I listed my iPhone on eBay, and the next day it sold for $350 to Tom in Norway on June 12th. On June 13th I picked up my GO Phone and switched my SIM Card to it. I restored/reformatted my iPhone on June 15th to prepare for the shipment, and said my goodbyes. The phone was shipped to Norway on Monday, June 16th, effectively beginning 26 days without an iPhone.
