Can you top this? Longest Traveled for an iPhone
Published July 8th, 2008 in UncategorizedThere might already be spots reserved in internet history for the longest to wait for an iPhone or the first to get an iPhone, but is anyone traveling further to get an iPhone than Joe Gaylor?
That’s right. His tickets are booked. His bags are packed (carry-on only, who needs new clothes when you sleep in front of an iPhone store?). And he’s flying an estimated 1600 miles roundtrip from Hartford, CT to Indianapolis, IN to join me in line at the Keystone Apple store for the 3G iPhone launch.
His political agenda? To turn the White House lawn into an organic garden? To have the biggest carbon footprint out of any iPhone owner? To gain 26DaysWithoutAniPhone.com fame? Or simply to hang out with me? Look for an exclusive interview soon, right here.

If anyone else wants to join us, leave a comment. I am an experienced camper. My wife is just glad she doesn’t have to sleep in a tent in front of Toys-R-Us in sub-freezing temperatures again. But it was totally worth it. We sold a PS3 and a Wii to Wayne Brady (yes, that guy) for $2700 back in 2006. Can you say CASH MONEY? We ended up flipping 2 PS3’s, 4 Wii’s, and 2 TMX Elmo’s that year. It was a grand Christmas.

I can hardly wait. The anticipation is rising.
I am so excited for you. I wish I was getting the phone on the launch again. It was so much fun being around Apple fanatics. I didn’t know the small town of Auburn, AL had so many Apple fanboys or fangirls in this case.
I’m sure you’ll be taking lots of pictures and rubbing it in my face.
As you know, I am off into the job market soon and I don’t know where I’ll end up. I have been looking in many places where the 3G network is not even available. it just doesn’t seem cost effective for me to get one right now! Soon though!
I can’t wait!
As much as I would love to meet up with you guys, I don’t think I could make it back to Springfield, IL before 9:40 for Freshmen Orientation. It’s set to be our biggest one ever! I’m still going to get up early and see if I can snag one. The only problem is that there are only TWO stores in Springfield that are selling them! We’ll see…
Good Luck boys!
Hahaha, you’re killing me… Wanted to fly under the radar on this one.. It’s funny that I’m headed out to Indy to get the 3G, It was at Keystone that I was sold on the iPhone thanks to JamieHS and his directions to the nearest Apple Store when we were at Marian in September.. Up until that point I was good to go with the typical phone.. Should be a good time…
Brad:
Love your blog. Going to the Apple store early tomorrow in Austin. Saw this post at Apple Insider - the guys from iFixit.com flew from LA to NZ! Here’s the link:
